As a relatively new father (the oldest of my three being six years old), I’ve come to appreciate the African proverb that says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I’m fortunate to have a strong support system, including a remarkable spouse who somehow holds “dual PhDs” in organic chemistry and parenting. But even with these advantages, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges parents face to keep a household running smoothly and provide the care and attention our children need to thrive.

These challenges have opened my eyes to the urgent need for innovative solutions to support parents. And that’s where “Parenting Tech” comes in. As an emerging market, it spans several rapidly growing sectors: the U.S. Infant & Childcare market, valued at $136 billion; the $122 billion Household Management market; and the global fertility market, which is set to reach $47.9 billion by 2030, and more. These figures are just the tip of the iceberg, highlighting just how much opportunity exists to tackle the practical, everyday obstacles that so many families face.

Today, I’m excited to introduce six major challenges in modern parenting and showcase innovative startups that are helping to address them. Many of these companies are already part of our Alumni Ventures portfolio, from new investments like Hearth Display to long-time partners like HopSkipDrive. Whether you’re an investor, a parent, or simply passionate about family-centered innovation, I hope you’ll find inspiration in the powerful solutions shaping the future of family life.
