Alumni Ventures (AV), one of the world’s most active venture capital firms, is a proud investor in Cyvl.ai. The company is focused on transforming public infrastructure management, making significant strides in modernizing how local governments maintain and enhance community infrastructure. AV invested in Cyvl.ai’s $6 million seed round in March 2024 led by Companyon Ventures, with participation from Argon Ventures, AeroX Ventures, MassVentures, Launch Capital and RiverPark Ventures.

Cyvl.ai sources data from 3D mapping sensors that can be mounted on any vehicle. These sensors scan the environment, creating detailed digital models of roadways, sidewalks, and other infrastructure elements. By identifying issues such as cracks, bumps, and fallen trees, Cyvl.ai provides local governments with actionable data to plan and execute repairs efficiently. This not only improves operational efficiencies but also enhances the safety and quality of life for residents.

Pelaez added that Cyvl.ai has seen great traction, as the company’s solutions have already been implemented in over 200 towns and cities — with plans to expand to nearly 300 by the end of 2024. He also highlighted that Cyvl.ai’s technology not only helps local governments reduce costs and improve accuracy in infrastructure assessments, but also aligns with broader goals of sustainability and innovation.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Cyvl.ai in their mission to bring cutting-edge technology to the public sector,” said AV Founder and CEO Mike Collins, who hosted the conversation with Pelaez on AV’s Tech Optimist podcast. “Daniel and his team are not only improving operational efficiency, but also making our cities safer and more sustainable.”
